Casselton residents will have the opportunity to vote on a proposed amendment to the City Sales and Use Tax Ordinance in a special election on Tuesday, April 22, 2025.
The proposed measure asks voters whether the City of Casselton should amend the existing 2% sales and use tax ordinance to dedicate funds to the following: ✔ Infrastructure and capital improvements ✔ Parks and recreation ✔ Job development (business retention, expansion, and recruitment) ✔ Property tax relief
Currently, Casselton has a 2% sales and use tax, but it is set to revert to 1% once bonds for the community wellness center are paid off.
A "YES" vote means you support the amendment, keeping the 2% sales and use tax in place with the updated funding allocations. A "NO" vote means you do not support the amendment, and the sales and use tax would decrease to 1% as previously planned.
Date: Tuesday, April 22, 2025 Polls Open: 7:00 AM – 8:00 PM Polling Location: Casselton City Hall, Veteran’s Memorial Auditorium (702 1st Street North)
If you require assistance or accommodations to vote, please contact City Auditor Sheila Klevgard at (701) 347-4861 at least five days before the election.
