Casselton Business Association selected two Central Cass seniors as recipients of the 2026 CBA Scholarship. This year, two $500 scholarships were awarded in recognition of the students’ contributions to their school, community, and future career goals.

Recipients Greta Olsen and Addison Hushka have both demonstrated strong involvement in academics, extracurricular activities, leadership, employment, and community service throughout their high school careers.

“Each year, we are impressed by the quality of students applying for the CBA Scholarship,” said Philip Loy, CBA President. “Many of these students are contributing to the community through local jobs, volunteerism, leadership, and involvement with organizations and businesses connected to Casselton. It’s exciting to see young people building relationships within the community while preparing for their future careers.”

Greta Olsen

Greta Olsen, daughter of Paul and Kristen Olsen of Amenia, plans to attend the University of Jamestown to study Business Administration and Theatre.

Throughout high school, Greta has been involved in fine arts and school activities. She participated in one act play, speech, band, and musical productions all four years of high school. Her accomplishments include advancing to state competition in one act play twice, earning honorable mention acting awards, qualifying for state music in band three years, and receiving the Outstanding Performance award at state music competition. She also qualified for state speech competition and participated in organizations including DECA, Science Olympiad, Big Brother Big Sister, prom committee, and Junior Achievement, where her business team placed third.

“Greta is an outstanding student, leader, and overall person,” said Kayla Anderson of Legacy Learning Center, Casselton. “She is someone who can be counted on and willing to help with any project, always with a smile on her face and positive personality.

Greta has also balanced school activities with employment and leadership roles. She worked as an assistant dance instructor with Casselton Just For Kix for four years, worked at Legacy Learning Center, and served as a nanny during the summers.

Her community involvement includes active participation in 4-H, where she earned a national title in consumer decision making, along with top placements in multiple categories. She has also volunteered through church programs and is currently directing a children’s play for the Chaffee Rec Group.

Greta hopes to combine her passions for business and the arts in her future career and shared ideas about how communities like Casselton could benefit from expanded youth theater opportunities and arts programming.

Addison Hushka

Addison Hushka, daughter of Joseph Hushka of Casselton, plans to attend North Dakota State University to study Architecture.

Addison has been highly involved in academics, athletics, and leadership activities throughout high school. She participated in basketball all four years, earning varsity letters each season and serving as team captain during her senior year. She was also part of the 2023 State Class B Girls Basketball Championship team. In addition, she participated in volleyball, track and field, National Honor Society, Big Brother Big Sister, Spanish Club, prom committee, and PaY leadership activities. Addison was also named Salutatorian of her graduating class.

During the summer months, Addison has worked for Casselton Parks and Recreation as a lifeguard and swimming instructor. Over the past several summers, she has steadily advanced into leadership positions, including Senior Lifeguard and Assistant Manager. Her responsibilities have included teaching swimming lessons, supervising staff, maintaining pool safety, and handling chemical testing and facility operations.

Addison is also active in her church community through St. Leo’s Catholic Church, where she volunteers as a Mass server and assists with church events and religious education programs.

She chose architecture because it allows her to combine creativity, design, and problem-solving in meaningful ways. Addison also shared ideas about how a locally based architectural design and renovation business could support Casselton’s future growth and development.
